Exquisite small mahogany tambour ladies desk / bonheur du jour of the Napoleon III period profusely inlaid with fine brass line strips throughout including the back, as well as each individual slot of the tambour! The top has an impecable "rouge" marble which is surrounded by a brass gallery. There are 3 drawers on the upper part that become unblocked by the action of opening the lower large drawer, which also makes slide open the tambour to reveal a hollowed shelf, 3 more drawers, an unfolding tooled leather writing surface with large storage below it. The desk is supported by 4 turned and fluted tapering legs terminating in brass shoes. The desk is finished on all 4 sides with line inlay. Expertly french polished.
