Antique Bureau Bookcase -SOLD

Description

Bureau Bookcase dating to the 2nd half of the 19th century of English origin featuring the finest figured mahogany veneers. The cylinder top bureau once open, it reveals a series of compartments and small drawers with attractive bird's eye maple fronts. The writing surface slides out and has 3 gilt tooled leather panels, the center one rises at different heights and can serve as a book stand. The cabinet below has 2 doors with cathedral figured mahogany veneers and a large single shelf in the interior. The 2 doors of the bookcase above have arched original glass panels and 3 original shelves. At the top an impressively multi layered moulded and veneered pediment. All original brass hardware, locks and keys. Lovingly restored with hand rubbed French polish.
