Empire Mahogany Armchairs - SOLD

Description

Fine pair of early 19th century Empire fauteuils with round backs and pillowed seats. Made of solid mahogany they are sturdy and very comfortable. There is intricate and masterful carving at the top of the arms imitating fish scales and tail terminating below in stylised dolphin heads and other decorative carvings. The legs are the sabre type, the front ones slightly more curved. There are 2 gilt brass ornaments, one at the top of the back and another at the front cross member. They are newly upholstered and can be reupholstered according to client's taste. In excellent original restored condition.
