Impressive mahogany library armchair of the William IV period with profound carvings having gothic forms, bell shaped seat with serpentine front supported by asimetricaly reeded and carved legs terminating in porcelain castors. Newly upholstered with American leather in the same manner as the original. This armchair due to its form, technique and beauty is attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, one of the cabinetmakers most famous during the 18th and 19th centuries, providers to the English Court and other noble clients.
