Description

Important early 19th century Gustavian mirror of architectural form, bearing label verso 'Jon Frisks', Swedish master mirror maker, parcel gilt and painted over various carved wood designs of the Empire period during its transition to Biedermeier .

**Jonas Frisks (Swedish 1787-1849), was a Stockholm craftsman who in 1805 was granted the right to produce mirrors by the Kommerskollegium and eventually ran a prosperous enterprise employing up to 14 craftsmen. From 1810-1814 his workshop was located at the Storkyrkobrinken where this mirror and console were made. His final location was at the Riddarhustorget from 1814-1825.
