French Mantel clock - Stamp of PH Mousey - SOLD

Description

A French porcelain mounted gilt spelter mantel clock, bell striking 8 day movement exterior stamped PH. Mourey* and with mechanism numbered 6021683, in a scrolled case, the dial and porcelain plaques decorated with figures and musical trophies, against a light blue ground, urn finial 14½in (37cm) high, on a giltwood base. Fully revised and functioning.

*Philippe Mourey(1840-1910) was one of the most famous sculptors of that period. He is known for his bronzes and for cooperating with Japy Freres, one of the most well known and prolific clockmakers in France.
