Longcase Clock - Lunar Phases - SOLD

Description

Important George III mahogany longcase clock by John Parr of Liverpool. The mechanism is also signed George Felton - Birmingham, both registered as clockmakers at the beginning of the 19th century, John Parr being active during 1800-1825, in Liverpool.

Movement: Two train with anchor escapement totally revised and restored and functioning perfectly. Ringing on the hour complete with pendulum and weights, the hand painted face showing fruit designs in all 4 corners, the dials indicating seconds, minutes, hours, months and with lunar phases rotating above it.

The Case: The arched glazed door above is flanked by double bombé columns and the broken pediment swan neck tops with 3 finials bear gilt and polychromed designs below them. The main body has fine marquetry and line inlay above and below it with the central door having a gothic design top and is also flanked by double bombé columns. The base with further line inlay and outsplayed rear and front supports. The case is fully restored and ready to use.
