Attractive early 19th century Brasilian rosewood foldover tea table with unusual cluster columned central pedestal terminating onto multi-ring parcel gilt base and centered over quadripartite base with scroll feet over brass casters. The 2 top D shaped leaves rotate 90º and open with a book type action doubling the size of the table and exhibiting spectacular rosewood surfaces, over a newly felt-lined large storage compartment that can accomodate even a large cutlery service. This versatile table may be used as a console against a wall, as a tea or games table or even as a small dining and serving table. The rear of the table is also finished in rosewood.
*This Scandinavian table is in the Biedermeier style with strong English Regency influence, to the point that until recently we thought that it was English. Upon further investigation we realized that it is Swedish Biedermeier.
