Biedermeier Sewing Side Table of Rare Oyster Veneer - SOLD

Description

Outstanding early 19th century German Biedermeier Sewing Side Table with twin lyre base, the top and aprons adorned with rare oyster walnut veneer. The single drawer has several small compartments and an original folding needle cushion. The top is raised on two graceful lyre shaped elmwood legs, the lyre strings made of ebonised turned wood with tiny bone finials. Four out splayed legs at the bottom connected via a turned stretcher. A working sewing table until recently, has been very well preserved not needing more than a few hands of shellac(french polish). A truly attractive side table that would adorn any living room, hall or bedroom.
