Biedermeier Escritoire with Tabernacle-SOLD Ref. N2

Description

Secretaire a abattant of the Biedermeier high period, having a tabernacle, entirely of neoclassical lines that characterize that brilliant period of pure German design,  that flourished during the first half of the 19th century and inspired designers even 100 years later, such as the Art Deco period. The designer of this secretaire wishing to "interrupt" the existing straight lines, incorporated 2 gothic cathedral peaks on the 2 large drawers below the escritoire and curved the doors of the tabernacle upstairs. The exterior of this secretaire is made of figured "tiger" birch. The pediment of the tabernacle follows the design of the famous prussian architect of that period "Karl Freidrich Von Schinkel"(see Blog). Lowering the door of the escritoire reveals an interior of simple design as is the rest of the secretaire, that makes it compatible with any modern or traditional decor.
