Biedermeier Bureau with Cylinder Top - SOLD

Description

Fine Biedermeier Bureau dating to the beginning of the 19th Century and of north German origin, probably Hamburg. Entirely constructed of figured mahogany veneers with cylinder top that once open it reveals various small drawers and compartments (some secret) and a central cabinet with decorative inlays surrounded by decorative lacquered sections adorned with gilt brass leaves. The writing surface slides outwards using two lacquered balls. 3 large drawers below of different sizes the middle one being quite large, all with locks and keys. The bureau is supported by 4 bracket feet. Fully and professionally restored.
