Antique Sheraton Bureau Bookcase - End 19th Century - SOLD

Description

Fine mahogany Georgian bureau bookcase in the Hepplewhite style with line inlay of ebony and satinwood throughout. The two door bookcase is ebony inlaid with geometric astragal design and original glazing. Above, a finely inlaid herringbone cornice and an ebony and satinwood inlaid dentil moulding. The bureau part fall with oval veneered exterior and interior leather writing surface. Various small satinwood fronted drawers and divided compartments. One central door in mahogany with marquetry flanked by vertical drawers simulating bookends. Interior of small cupboard with secret drawer. 4 large exterior drawers and beautifuly outsplayed legs. Fully restored and finished in shellac french polish and new tooled black leather writing surface. Locks and keys.

Bronze oval handles are new, made with the same processes as the originals and hand aged. We have the originals but only 6.
