Fine chaise longue / day bed of North American origin and of the Federal period, equivalent to the Regency period of England. The chaise longue may be used in the center of the room as it has 2 fronts. A chaise longue of this quality and quite similar to this is exhibited in the Nathaniel Russel House Museum in Charleston South Carolina(see last photo). It is constucted of mahogany with fine classical carvings characteristic of this historic North American period. The decorative accents are of gilt brass and the sabre legs terminate in brass casters. It is totally restored and newly uphostered, although it may be reupholstered according to client's taste.
