Large Writing Table Desk stamped Williams & Gibton of Ireland - SOLD

Description

Important large writing table desk of the William IV period, bearing stamped the name of the well known Irish firm of Williams & Gibton. Of figured mahogany throughout, it has 2 extensions that slide out like drawers and rise if needed. It has no drawers. The writing surfaces are of black leather with beautiful patination. Below, there are 2 vase shaped hexagonal pedestal terminating in carvings and with inverted T shape supports ending in flat ball feet that hide casters that provide excelent mobility. It is a trully imposing piece of furniture with beautiful patina and in original condition. It bears a later installed short flat beam below(not visible from above) as reinforcement that in our opinion is not necessary and can be removed.
