Biedermeier Burl Olivewood Commode

Description

Fine German commode of the second Biedermeier period with rare frontal veneers of spalted* olivewood. The top is of spalted walnut and the sides of cherrywood. All 4 drawer fronts are of alternating concave and convex shapes. The frontal corners and legs are of finely turned columns. All locks, keys and escutcheons are original and functioning. The commode is in impecable original condition lightly refreshed with shellac.

*Spalting is a process of aging wood, mostly outdoors, with the intent of enhancing its natural beauty.
